The attacking planes came it two waves; the first hit its target at 7:53AM, the second at 8:55. By 9:55 it was all over . 1:00 PM the carriers that launched the planes from 274 miles off the coast of oahu were heading back to japan.† ( EyeWitness to History ) â€Å" It was described by President Franklin D. In Asia, Japan was building there own empire. Taking over countries with ease. France and England fin ally declared war on Germany and Italy when they decided enough is enough. We were allies with France and England but we didn’t want to go to another great war. We remained neutral for awhile, then the catastrophic event happened. When the Japanese zeros flew over us and bombed part of our navy, we declared war on Japan, a day later Germany declared war on us. What happened to Japan at the end of WWll? Well, The US was working on a secret project called Project Manhattan, this project provided a weapon of mass destruction which would lead us to, The Cold War. The weapon was called an Atomic bomb. This bomb had the power to level a whole city. US flew to Hiroshima,Japan with the atomic bomb, nicknamed â€Å"Little boy.† On Aug. 6, 1945, during World War II, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. â€Å"About 140,000 people were killed or died within months when the American B-29 â€Å"Enola Gay† bombed Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945. After the bombing, Japan still wanted war. On Aug. 9, 1945, three days after the bombing of Hiroshima, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki.† (The Learning network) â€Å"The New York Times
